DIRECTIONS TO THE POLK COUNTY CONVENTION COMPLEX
501 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa
From the North:
Follow I-35 South, to I-235 West (exit 137B) towards Downtown Des Moines. Take the Downtown Des Moines / Iowa Event Center (exit 8A) and take the 5th Street ramp. Turn left (South) onto 5th Street. Continue to Grand Ave. The Convention Complex is on the Northwest corner of 5th Street and Grand Ave.
From the South:
Follow I-35 North, to I-235 East (exit 72A) towards Downtown Des Moines. Take the Downtown Des Moines / Iowa Event Center (Exit 8A) exit and take the 5th, 6th, and 7th Street ramp. Turn Right (South) onto 5th Street. Continue to Grand Ave. The Convention Complex is on the Northwest corner of 5th Street and Grand Avenue
From the East:
Follow I-80 West, to I-235 West (exit 137A) towards Downtown Des Moines. Take the Downtown Des Moines / Iowa Event Center (exit 8A) and take the 5th Street ramp. Turn left (South) onto 5th Street. From the West:
Follow I-80 East, to I-235 East (exit 127A) towards Downtown Des Moines. Take the Downtown Des Moines / Iowa Event Center (Exit 8A) exit and take the 5th, 6th, and 7th Street ramp. Turn Right (South) onto 5th Street. Continue to Grand Ave. The Convention Complex is on the Northwest corner of 5th Street and Grand Ave.
PARKING OPTIONS FOR THE POLK COUNTY CONVENTION COMPLEX
Street Parking Downtown:
Street parking is available throughout the downtown with the convenience of parking meters. Pay attention to the location and rates as many meters have different time limits and parking restrictions during certain times; typically there is no parking between 4-6pm on weekdays.
NOTE: There is no charge to park at a meter on Saturdays, Sundays or Holidays.
Parking Garages:
There are several parking garages located throughout the downtown with convenient
skywalk access to the Polk County Convention Complex. Many of these garages are free on the weekends. The City of Des Moines has a parking signage system to give up to the minute details on where parking is available in the garages.
